Buyer beware!
You might see some tempting prices on Brinkmann gas grills at Home Depot. But before you buy, here’s something to keep in mind: Brinkmann filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in October and stopped selling products in November, according to the Brinkmann website.
Four Brinkmann models landed on the recommended list in Consumer Reports ratings, and it’s likely you will see some tempting clearance prices at your local Home Depot. What does this mean for you? If you purchase a Brinkmann and something goes awry after the warranty period, you will have difficulty finding replacement parts. As far as the product warranty, Home Depot says it’s selling the inventory in stock and will honor the warranties for items sold through their stores. n
“We have universal replacement parts for Brinkmann grills, not all parts, but burners, regulators, and cross-channel parts” says spokesman Stephen Holmes.
Our Home Depot contact says customers should call Home Depot at 1-800-395-1844. If under warranty and the part is available, the support team will order the part or the customer can return grill to the store if within 90 day return window. If the part is not available, the team will provide options to include a universal part or return.
If out of warranty, Home Depot says the only option is to purchase a universal part on homedepot.com or one of the third party websites listed below.
